i'd take the 70m if it's on offer from atleti or barca. i doubt he'd be keen to stick around if offers come in for him

Those stats are disingenuous though as they completely disregard the number of starts and also don’t take the fact that he doesn’t take penalties into consideration. Laca had around a goal for every 2 starts in the league and something like 5 goals from 8 starts in the Europa League. Those are good numbers, add in penalties(think Auba scored about 4 pens and missed one against Spurs) and they get even better. That’s discounting the benefits of his all round game and high number of assists.

Laca is clearly the better penalty taker as well. Weird that he doesn't take them.

Tactics

On the subject of accepting 70-80m bids for him, sounds attractive until you realise bringing in someone of his calibre will likely cost you around the same. Therefore it then becomes a question of whether we swap him for say, a winger like Pepe(provided he’s willing to come). He looks promising but questions remain whether he’d adapt to the league, get on with the manager or not. Our attack is the only functioning part of our attack, do we take risks and start fiddling with it and potentially make things worse? Or do we leave it as it is for now and focus on the problem areas? These are all difficult decisions we have to make and things are not as straightforward as some would like you to think.

Yes. Sell him, replace with an elite winger and commit to a 1 striker system. The 'partnership' between him and auba is overblown. They both would've ended up with roughly the same goal tally had they not played together imo

He barely ever missed them for Lyon while Auba was never anything special at them. Weird doesn't come close to describing it

If Jovic costs 60m only and don't mind joining us, it's a no brainer swap isn't it.

I'd love Jovic at the Emirates but why would he choose us over Barcelona or Madrid? We can't even offer better wages than them.

I think pretty much our only shot is if he feels that he won't play much at those clubs. After 3-4 years at Arsenal he'd still only be 24-25, and maybe be better prepared to become the main man at the world's biggest club.

Then again it's also entirely possible that a shit show like we are currently will drag him down.

Pretty unlikely. He just moved her permanently from Benfica, dont think he'll settle for another stepping stone before moving to either of the Spanish giants.

Also he stated he feels absolutely at home in Frankfurt and it doesn't sound like platitudes. His career went off the tracks once already at a club without the right support, here he has five Yugos with which he spends basically every waking minute. If he leaves I'll be surprised if it's to someone not at the top besides he'd replace both Suarez and Benzema as is.

I really hope he stays a few more seasons too. I've loved watching the bloke in Europa League this season and it's just so boring when they all end up at Barca, Bayern or Real immediately.
