£50+ whatever we get in player sales. we have a lot of players who should be shown the door, and we should be able to bring in a tidy sum of money for those guys.
I don't know if you guys have looked at the squad lately, but we have 23 first team players at the moment. Two of them will retire in six weeks, a third one will leave because he is out of contract. A fourth one is Mavropanos who hasn't made the bench or played a single minute since he arrived and obviously isn't going to be an option next year.
We'll be down to 19 players this summer. Anyone we sell will have to be replaced. We don't have any more deadweight to trim.
cech, xhaka, mustafi, bellerin, kolasinac, chambers, lucas and joel campbell could all go.
we're not going to get £50m for any of them, obviously, but we received decent money for sub-standard/unwanted players last summer, and its not like the market has become any more rational in that time. obviously we also need to replace those guys if we sell them, but i think a new manager isnt going to be completely hamstrung. our recruitment team seems competent now, so it will be important to not make any more disastrous signings this summer and if we can, to move on from players who don't fit in here.
say you can sell cech for £5m and buy a replacement for £12m. thats an upgrade and it costs £7m. say you can sell xhaka for £25m and find his replacement for £35m, then it only costs £10m. etc.
