I was there and it was one of the most apathetic atmospheres I've experienced. Granted, I only usually get to Newcastle and Sunderland but that was by far the worst.
It seemed like every second touch was with his knee to try and control his first touch. Ability and potential aside, I don't think he has the mentality to impose himself on a game and make a difference.
