Starlets Linked
You'll have to put that gud feelin on ice for a while, my friend. Nobody wants that sack of wine
Football Italia are linking us with Torino centreback Angelo Ogbonna. He's been linked with us for years, supposed to be similar in style to Micah Richards, can play left back too, and already has a call-up for Italy's senior team. Anyone know anything more about him?
I've never seen him, but he's obviously too young and we could put that money towards signing Benzema, Pastore, Alexis Sanchez or some other 'superstar' that will magically solve all of our problems.
Don't know if your being sarcastic Timmy, son of Leaf, but a superstar will not "magically" solve our problems. What he will do though is show that we are actually a club with ambitions and encourage our wantaways to stay perhaps a few more seasons- a statement signing so to speak. In addition he'll provide some much needed lift to our depressed fans, and give us some real hope of winning trophies once again. He'll also take some/most of the scoring burden off the oft injured VanPersie, and be another player the opposition defenders have to really worry about when we attack. And if he's one of those who has that ability to occasionally create moments of magic and class, and score goals out of nowhere/nothing, we'll be a much, much better outfit than we've been for the past 7 years.
Kind of like what Arshavin was before he joined the Lampard pie eating association.
Your man Gervinho hit double figures for goals and assists in the league last year. Do you know how many other players managed that?
Fuck him.
I care not.
How many Capi?
Arshavin managed that, and he's fat, slow, inconsistent, lazy, slows the game down etc etc etc.
Put any of our wide forwards at Lille and they'd easily double Gervinho's output.
No, Arshavin didn't. Only Rooney and Drogba managed it in the premiership.

In the top four leagues, eight players including Gervinho.

History suggests players coming in from Ligue 1 generally do better here stats wise. A little misleading maybe since they develop after coming here, but still.
Adel Taarabt had 19 goals and 16 assists in the Championship, shall we sign him as well then?
Ah yes, in the league. Still, I'd plump for fat, lazy, slow Arshavin over brainless, blind stupid Gervinho any day of the week.
It's not either/or, we can and look to have both.
Arshavin is our most productive wideman, our record signing and a flawed player of real footballing quality. Gervinho is more raw, younger and thus less proven but he has shown himself to be effective in the final third; he's not doing any worse than Arshavin did in Russia statistically. He's one of the top five players in France and has been integral to his team lifting their first league trophy in fifty odd years.
Of course that doesn't mean he is going to come here and tear up the premiership, he may not even get a game for all we know but If someone describes a player they want by saying "He'll also take some/most of the scoring burden off the oft injured VanPersie, and be another player the opposition defenders have to really worry about when we attack.", then I personally find it difficult to ignore this bloke's proven record.
What I said wasnt really relevant to much, shouldn't have really said it.
Think Gervinho's a waste of time and money, personally, but it's not relevant to this thread.
I remember a lot of people being indifferent to when we were linked with Torres, and still being indifferent when Pool signed him. There ARE good footballers outside the PL you know...
The people who were indifferent to Torres were smoking pot. Torres is actually an inferior footballer to what he was in his Atletico days when he was asked to play more like Rooney at Manchester.
Still, a lot of Arsenal fans were.
I remember that. I was astonished. I guess I probably watched more La Liga than Premier League at the time, so I knew him well. He's definitely regressed badly. He played the way Forlan is asked to play for Uruguay, basically be No. 10 and No. 9. An everyman.
We have not been linked to him, but why not Ganso? He's the playmaker at Santos, looks amazing. Maybe a tad injury-prone, but an excellent playmaker.
ganso looks good yes.
Another link, this time in The Mirror, to Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna. As I said on the previous page, he;s supposed to be similar in style to Micah Richards and in the same way can play both centreback and fullback (left side). Might be a good option to strengthen the squad.
The sabotage times article on Samed Yesil has popped up on newsnow for the umpteenth time. Were we ever actually linked with him anywhere else?
Another article linking us with a South American player - full back, Brazilian, 20. Bruno Uvini.
The way these stories develop I won't surprised if I wake up tomorrow morning and read that he's signed for United.
Send in Dick Law!
we should send out dick law lookalikes to throw the scent.
Anyone know anything about this kid?
was surprised to see that he has an 8min video on youtube.
He'll come in handy next time we play at Wembley.
I want, I want!!!!!
Very good player. We should just keep Cesc though...
Yep Martinez would rival song
rhymes with Xavi. no!

M'Baye Niang. 16 year old striker with 3 goals for the Caen first team apparently.

Haha. Here's a recent pic of dick law!
We're being linked with a move for Nottingham Forest's 18 year old centreback, Jamaal Lascelles. He only made his début for Forest last week, but has reportedly really impressed with the England U19 side.
We made a £5M bid for him in April (£2M initially, with £3M in add-ons), but Forest rejected it. The Mail say we're now going head-to-head with Spurs for his signature.
Never a bad thing if we pick up talented kids for relatively low sums of money.
Also being linked by The People with a move for a kid we've scouted for a while, Nick Powell at Crewe. He's played 22 games for Crewe in the League this season and scored 6 goals, as a 17 year old playing in centre midfield. He's rated very, very highly.
Arsenal at front of queue to buy Crewe superkid Nick Powell
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger heads the queue to sign Crewe superkid Nick Powell - in a £1.25million deal for next season.Wenger's chief scout Steve Rowley watched attacking midfielder Powell, 17, at Barnet just before the window shut.
The Gunners are keen to win the race, especially with Chelsea and Manchester City also on the trail of the teenager. Wenger has also increased scouting missions on the 17-year-old Frenchman dubbed "the new Patrice Evra".
Youth international Benjamin Mendy has been a revelation for Le Havre and is being monitored by a number of clubs, including Valencia and Bayern Munich.
Mendy is under contract until 2016 - but a release clause can be activated at around £3.5m.
I'll pass on the "new Patrice Evra" though!
