This is an amazing day. Credit to Chris Wheatley who called this very early in the first week of January. Apparently the only offer he received from another club is from China, 800k per week from Beijing Guoan so fair play for turning that down to sign a 350k contract.

German press all reporting Ozil signed, actual wage with everything inclusive before tax is 435k GBP per week.

I've read that, as well as China, he had offers fron United and PSG.

Tbf, I think he just really loves London. Plus, he's getting £350K a week. The football side is probably not his main motivation.

I think the club just suits him on a personal level. I remember that he spoke about how he disliked the hierarchy at Real where half the squad didn't speak to eachother because the stars didn't want to mix with the lesser players. He said he much preferred the family atmosphere at Arsenal where everyone down to the tea lady is being treated the same.

I do not really like Ozil, but nevertheless this is a huge signing. A big relief that this club is still capable of something.

This is an aspect that everyone always seems to ignore. If you’re happy somewhere and are enjoying your football, there’s no real need to move. Especially if you’ve already been at a club like Madrid and don’t feel the need to scratch that itch.

Well, there's two sides to the comfort aspect.

It enables us to sign the likes of Ozil, but it also leas to players coasting and pissing off others like Sanchez.
