I agree with how it was originally, not as much now.

To be fair, if you think we don't need Evans at all, then you also think we don't need him for that purpose.
True. There is more emphasis on the former though.
I'll take Evans; no problem with that transfer to be honest.
Nah, I'd rather stick with what we have with the possibility of signing a top quality CH some time over the next year or so than be burdened with yet another overpriced mediocre player who is on the wrong side of the prime of his career.
We have no senior CH beyond a busted Koscielny.
i predicted that we were moving for evans to keep powder dry for a big move elsewhere (auba)

You don't include Mustafi? He may be only 25 or so but the guy was part of the WC winning team for Germany who has played 2 full seasons each for both Sampdoria and Valencia before joining us. He may not have as many games under his belt as Evans but his ceiling is much higher than Evans could dream of.
Look the only issues I have with Evans is that he will be yet another average defender we buy who's impact on our haphazard defense will be marginal at best with Wenger still in charge. Also at almost 30 he's not going to somehow step it up a level.
The biggest reason has to be however that if we do sign Evans I don't see us signing another defender for another couple years at least.
57 mill for aymeric laporte by City.
I know the FFP is busted but if City also sign Fred they will have spent another 100m during this January. Surely there has to be done something about this.
hey segway, they're creating something special over there, you know. Just watch and marvel.
With Evans, Wenger obviously thinks Chambers, Holding or that Greek boy may make it here.
Laporte may well be very good, I haven't seen much of him myself, but I think he is the wrong singing for City. Firstly, he misses quite a bit of football because he's injury prone and, more importantly, because I think what they really lack is a leader back there. Everyone is quite young and inexperienced in that back 5 - and most of the rest of the team for that matter - and it'll cost them when it really matters.
Everyone? Otamendi is 29, Walker is 27 and Delph is 28.
Still think of Walker as young! Regardless he's about as much of a leader as Theo Walcott. Otamendi will likely be the one to make way for Laporte, Guardiola loves John Stones. Delph is not really relevant to the point I'm making.
Still, Ederson, Laporte, Stones and Mendy will be a very young back 5 moving forward.
They need a Hummels, Ramos, Boateng, Pique, Godin, Thiago Silva... someone of that profile, and with their money they probably could get it too.
Reports everywhere that Spurs are very close to signing Lucas Moura btw.
Not a bad player, but he has always seemed a Spurs level kind of a player. I certainly wouldn't choose him for Arsenal.

Kompany??
While I do disagree with Ricky, Kompany doesn't really count.

Same here. He'll probably look decent playing with Kane but I don't rate him very highly.
