It is absurd, just doesn't sit well with me.

That said, every passing window increases the feeling that Arsenal are being left behind.

Keita and Van Dijk will do wonders. Dare I say them two additions will shave 10 goals against over a season in the pl.

True. It does hurt a tad when you step back and recognise that we’re the only top club which runs itself in a fair and ethical way. The rest are basically scum clubs.

Would love to see Burnley snatch a top four place and us win Europa

Charging the highest ticket prices in world football to watch a Europa league level team doesn't sound too fair or ethical to me.

True. I don't even care whether VVD is worth it or not for Pool, because ultimately he will strengthen them massively despite the fee.

With Keita joining, and Goretzka rumoured to be close to Pool as well, all they need is a top keeper to have a sustained challenge.

Meanwhile, with Ozil and Alexis leaving on a free, we basically need a GK, CB, backup RB&LB, CM, RM, LM, AM to even think of a challenge.

What pisses me off more than our approach to transfers is our fitness levels. We are lacking still

Everton signing Cenk Tosun. Potentially great signing, scored tons of goals this season and looked the real deal in UCL.

And we pay our ground level staff less than alot of other clubs too. Arsenal are no more ethical a club than anyone else.

Exactly. We laughed at what United paid for Pogba and now that seems fair enough. We need to get in the big money game or we'll be left way behind.

This. We are just badly run

We laugh at, dismiss and balk at other teams modus operandi all the time yet we haven't broken the 80 point barrier for a decade.

Other teams have been in and out of the CL but we don't go beyond the second round despite consistent qualification.

That's why I don't understand the "City aren't even that good" argument in the Premier League thread.

Source?

This riles me up when I read things like this.

I think its deeply unethical. And I think its far worse than spending big on players.

In Liverpool’s case it’s not the size of the fee that’s unethical

I'd wager a guess a large percentage of the overall employee population in the stadium are in fact third party employees. We're not one iota better than the rest of the league, in fact if that table is true we're considerably worse than fucking Chelsea of all clubs

Considering what we charge for tickets and where we are based its a disgrace that we are at the bottom of that table.

Spuds after Malcolm. Failed with a first bid, he is a very good player. One we should have been tracking.

Agreed. I do think Bordeaux is looking for a lot of money though, closer to 50-60m.

Goretzka suposedly close to signing for Liverpool.

Really?
That would annoy me as i'm hoping we get him as Xhaka's replacement and also insurance if Ramsey refuses to sign an extension to his expiring contract.

This was on the official Nike website.

It was on the German and French site as well as many others, translated into many languages, so if it's a hack they've done it very thoroughly. Some guy on Reddit said this is the URL they used and that it was supposed to go live on January 1st:

Wouldn't surprise me. Would be excellent news for us, Coutinho has been outstanding for them this season and he is one of the big reasons why their attack gelled so well.

Goretzka to Bayern supposedly - great news if true.

His agent has rubbished the deal, so has their sporting director. Can bayern do a precontract agreement with 6 months left I know you can't in the prem.  So his agent could be taken to court if this was found to be true so he'd have to rubbish it. They could have an illegal but impossible to prove verbal agreement.

Bayern do that shit all the time anyway though don’t they? Well over a year in advance? They don’t seem to care at this point as to whether people know.

pool have been spending the coutinho cash proactively, so the barcelona deal must be done outside of the actual ink on the contract

He is, he knows what he's doing, it just takes time and planning and he's executing it very well.

Naby Keita in the middle will be mouthwatering next season. Two full backs and a solid reliable goalkeeper and we're ready for whatever.

There's a bit of me which is hoping that we actually stand firm on Coutinho to Barca, hope is a dangerous thing, but if we somehow go into next season with the same squad as we currently have now as well as Keita and one other top level player, we'd be rip roaring.

Not rip roaring enough to get close to City though. Feels like Liverpool have left it too late to wake up.

Yeah they’ll not get close to City.

Coutinho will go and they’ll regress if anything

Salah most likely will go

Nah. Salah will stay. He has a chance to be a legend at that club and doesn’t really have any x or Y chromosomes pulling him one way or the other. As long as Liverpool pay him market value he’ll probably stay put.

What?? No way. We've only just signed him. It'll take a huge offer and I mean insane for us to sell, considering Coutinho is pretty much off. To allow Salah to follow so soon after would be suicide.

Salah to Real Madrid has a certain (absurd) ring to it.

Salah is at a career high, I think he'll stay at Liverpool but he wont maintain his current level.
