Louis C.K. the latest purportedly. Awaiting NYtimes story on him. Steven seagal accused by Portia de rossi. Kevin Spacey one was a particularly cringey one with his timing of coming out.

The rumours have been around for years regarding Louis CK. Female comedians have stopped short of outright accusing him of sexual assault. I think it was Jen Kirkman who alleged that her career would be ruined if she ever told people what she knew about him.

The story that is about to break concerns women who accuses him of cornering them and jacking off in front of them, but there have been rape rumours too. It sounds like they called everyone in Hollywood for weeks before publishing this piece. This is not going to end well for him.

There probably are a lot of people like that, but the bigger issue is the way narcissists thrive in the type of spaces that occupations like acting and social journalism create. It's not a coincidence that most of the journalists on that shitty media men list were Buzzfeed people and the like - people who get off on power, who have career trajectories that are directly proportional to how well you market yourself on social media and how good your relationships are to other influential people in the industry.

Too true about doing scummy things if you know you can get away with it. For example, when I lived outside the western world there were so many people I knew who would regularly drive drunk because they knew enforcement was bad and even if caught, a small bribe would do the trick. The same people would never do the same back home. It's unfortunate that so many are wired this way.

At some point you have to accept that there's been a huge accumulated harm, and just submit to this moment. All the more so given the new allegations that seem to be coming to light every day.

You're surprised by that? Pretty much every woman I know has had an experience like this, from groping to rape and everything in between. That does not of course mean that all men do it or are rapists waiting to happen - like some women and male masochists now claim - but it is certainly widespread.

The Louis C.K. story in the NY Times is sad, hilarious and disgusting at the same time. What is this thing with people wanting to masturbate in front of complete strangers? 😆
