I'm not sure I agree. To me it looks like the clubs with the most money still get the best players, and those players still win them trophies even if they play for different managers every other year.
I would say that the damage a limited manager can do is much greater in the current climate though. When everyone can suddenly sign good players no one can afford to be behind the curve, and that's exactly where we've placed ourselves. Even the likes of Southampton and Everton can suddenly sign quality that just a few years ago was well beyond their reach.
Compare this to, I dunno, 2006, when we replaced our top performers with a bunch of kids, and still comfortably were one of the four best clubs in the country.
