I agree but this is clearly not a case of scouts but a manager getting it wrong. Xhaka under Favre was a liability at times because of his reckless challenges but the game never used to pass him by like it does here because back then Gladbach were a well drilled side playing on the break who were known for their 10 second rule, i.e. not taking longer than that time from winning the ball to a shot on target. You can't play that way when your central midfielder is unable to release the ball quickly, same if he lacks positional awareness. Not like we're talking about some pub side either, Gladbach haven't lost their last four league games against Bayern including home and away wins with Xhaka an integral part to them
Xhaka 2016 was levels ahead of what he looks like now, God knows what he'd look like had he moved to some team with a manager who knows what he's doing. You can blame our scouting for that.
