Youngsters all did well enough, not counting Holding. Elneny is having a disappointing season so far too.

Overall a decent win but it's a pity we can't really kill teams any more.

Good experience for Willock and Nelson but they are not close to being ready for first team football.

Mertesacker is past it and isn't even leading how he should. Mustafi is concerning.

Wilshere was top class but isn't ready for 90 minutes and definitely not Premiership football, his touch is ridiculously good but he doesn't have his burst back. If he can get minutes in those legs I will give Ramsey and Wilshere a shot.

Wilshere and Walcott alone is enough to win most of our Europa games, just need to stabilize our midfield behind them. Still baffled by our lack of LBs, would much rather see El Neny and AMN in CM with Walcott ahead and two legitimate full/wing backs.

We have one LWB in kolasinac as monreal is a starting CB now. Wenger has to go into the market in Jan as we can't be like this all season. I thought monreal and kola would rotate but without that option we look insanely light.

4-2 flattered us.
2 of those goals were absolute gifts.
None of the senior players had a good game apart from Wilshere till he ran out of puff after an hour or so.
Elneny put in the worst performance of our team (imitation of a headless chicken).
Mertesacker run him close but he, at least, has the "old age" excuse.
Walcott scored twice but was too lazy to press them all game.

Thought this would be a lot tougher. Elneny was atrocious, reverted back to his safe passing.

Jack seems to be starting games well but running out of steam quite quickly. If he can stay fit there’s no doubt he can be useful for us though.

Goon, this is Europa League. Remember that. Not Champions League. Europa. Even with Arsenal fielding a second string squad, I'm sure Bate's top earning player made no more than our 7th or 8th highest earning player on the field yesterday.

This cup will only get interesting when Bayern drop from the Champions League as a 3rd place finisher to come and give us our annual spit roast. Oink!

BATE's number 10 was surprisingly good, tidy player.

Overall that was a pretty good performance, especially given the team that we put out. Glad that Olly finally hit 100 🙂

They’ve beaten the likes of Bayern and Roma at home in the last few seasons and have played in the CL a few times. Their home record in Europe is pretty good, certainly better than the likes of Ludo and Zagreb who we’ve struggled against.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert

Wilshere in the first half gave me the orgasms... a truly wonderful footballer he is. Can't believe there exist people who doubt him. Yes, he ran out of steam, but it's progress...

Theo decent enough, he doesn't deserve the usual ridicule for this one.

Back three not good enough, very poor. I thought AMN was quite good and he's obviously quite an intelligent player and good on the ball. I really want him to take Elneny's place though, he's wasted as wing back though he can do a serviceable job there.

Nelson showed improvement. I liked the look of Nketiah in that extremely brief cameo. Anyone know much about him?

Standout of the yutes was Willock. He gave the ball away cheaply a couple of times but otherwise he showed really good composure and awareness when in possession, shielded the ball well and he looks like he could develop good ball-winning capabilities. Great physique to work with.

Only Barca has won there before. Their home record is pretty flawless.

He's been on fire with the U-18s and U-23s scoring a goal in pretty much every game he plays, often grabbing a brace. Seems to have a fairly focused skillset on finishing chances but he's done that brilliantly.

But he didn’t play at CM and anything good he did was in the final third.
