So what?

He provided motivation and intensity that the Italian teams don't usually have at club level.

No way they win the CL under anyone else. I can't prove it but I doubt it highly.

That's because it's a baseless claim, Tony. Even when you disregard that the fact that Mourinho managed them didn't make them any less italian. I suppose the only reason United have won the Champions League is because of Ferguson too.

The contrast in tempo between English and South European teams is related to humidity and heat more than anything else. It doesn't signify a lack of motivation or attitude. Slower football does not equal worse football either.

Milan won it just a few years ago, beating United and Liverpool on the way.

Lol completely forgot. 😆

But I swear down my line before with mates and on A-M was that Italian teams were weak except for them.

Honestly Inter were shite.

Roma. 😆

That's part of why I quit facebook last month. Was tired of especially Barca fans going on about how they are more than a club. f**k them and their team.

We pissed all over Real, Milan, Inter in recent times at their grounds.

Actually look at the results between Italian and English teams since 2003/04. Even before.

The English league players are faster, stronger and more tactically aware than Italian league players. I wish we got Roma in the knock out rounds.

It'll just make it better for when they fail to secure champs league footy for next year, plus we can rub our carling cup in their faces!

Shows Serie A up for what it is though

Just like Inter winning the tournament last year did?

I'm no expert on Serie A, mate, but it seems to me that Inter have been the only ones with any genuine class about them for a long time now, and now they've turned to shit, there doesn't seem to be much to write home about anywhere in the League.

And I've just the seen the Spurs goal, Christ, Yepes should be ashamed of himself. What comically bad defending. just bloody awful.

The Italian league is just not as competitive as the Premiership at the moment, but I'd take issue with anyone that said there's an inherent problem with the style or kind of football they play. Go watch a Serie A game from the early or mid nineties and you'll see that the intesity, speed and physicality is very reminiscent of a modern day English top flight game.

Milan won the CL in 2007 Ricky as Otf reminded us.

Has to be one of the strangest claims I've seen anyone make.

Milan played three finals during the last decade and won two of them - the last one in 06/07. Inter won it last year.

Sure. But that was then.

For the last 6 or 7 years they've been meh apart from Milan but even them since 2008 have been rubbish.

How many Serie A games have you watched this season, Tony? How many did you watch last season? It's a genuine question. I'm interested to hear the answer because you make very strong claims that doesn't correspond to the actual state of things.

The Bundesliga is stronger than Serie A right now imo.

As much as I hate seeing the Spuds succeed at anything, Milan really were a miserable old pack of cunts tonight, with Gattuso being the stand-out. Good riddance, Spurs will probably hammer them by a good 2-3 goals at WHL.

Milan were a great side, I stupidly forgot about them, but is there anyone who compares to ourselves, or to Barcelona, or ManU, or Real Madrid, right now? Genuine question.

It means absolutely nothing though. If you went to one of the Barca boards you'd find that the general opinion is that Premier League is a shit league, apart from maybe United, and how none of the teams are capable of playing football apart from us - and we're not much good at it anyway.

It's baseless to make broad statements about a league you're not even watching, not to mention the motivation and attitude of the players. The current Milan side is quality. They didn't show it tonight but they're quality all the same. We would likely have suffered a loss too without Fabregas, van Persie, Wilshere and Sagna.

I have to agree with Klaus on this one. This Milan team has been playing well, so this was very disappointing.

As for the English league having more technical players, you'll find that to be untrue if you just watch a random Serie A game this weekend. The players are very technically sound. What they lack, as Daimler noted, is the pace of British football.

I have only seen a few games.

But i'm talking about the CL though. And let's be honest, english teams have done better against italians than vice versa when plaing each other.

Maybe any team with Zlatan up front is destined to flop in the latter stages of the CL? Have to say, he was woeful tonight.
