Yea I like that. Goal difference could be more of a factor if not every second placed team goes through, more drive to keep scoring when you're in control of a game.

Even more group games is even more of a burden on the host nations.

Just proper representation is all that is needed. UEFA has 14 teams this WC, almost half of all teams, when they only have 25% of all teams in FIFA. CONMEBOL has 5 teams in the WC, more than 10%, when they only have 5% of all team in FIFA. Sure it's not a clean split but for the WC to be the WC it needs to represent the diversity of the footballing nations and not just a showcase of the elite.

Yeah for me.

The quality and sense of achievement to get to the WC is all important.

If a country invests in, studies and supports football enough it will succeed.

Having said that there are too many European teams. We need 2-3 more African and Asian teams.

People are complaining about quality now with 32 teams. Imagine what they'll be saying in a few years time when there are 48 teams and a group throws up Panama vs Iran. Basically, in the USA World Cup, all the teams we are seeing now would be expected to make it to the knockout stage. There would be 16 other teams expected to be inferior to them on average. I don't know what FIFA is thinking other than $$$$$

And who are the biggest disappointments so far? Iceland or Germany?

People complain about the quality because there's no drive or passion behind most of the football. If they just wanted quality football they would watch the Champions League instead. International games are always gonna be miles behind club football.

The best games have been the ones without the big sides asdie from Spain-Portugal.

Dunno about that, yesterday was pretty good. Argentina were tragic but take nothing away from Croatia that was a performance befitting a real contender team
