Did well enough at youth level and Spain are looking good now but it's a massive gamble still, his only club experience was a complete car crash in lots of ways. Still, Enrique looked a bit shit before joining Barcelona and got them a treble in his first season, who knows what happens at these clubs.

Should’ve taken a punt on Jardim, who has been progresssing nicely. Worry that Lopetgui has the personality to manage that dressing room. Plus Jardim has a much more clearly defined style that would be loved in Madrid. Let’s see.

48 teams. Moroccans should celebrate tonight. This World Cup would’ve sent them into permanent economic ruin.

Also, 32 teams gives us so many mediocre teams. Can only imagine a 48 team World Cup with the likes of South Africa, USA, Netherlands also playing. My first two world cups were 1990 and 1994. What they lacked in diversity, they made up in competitiveness from the group stage under the 24 team format. I wish we could find a compromise

I would hazard a guess and say "not much". Hurricane season doesn't "truly" start until about August. (you'll get the odd one before that, but the rest are just tropical storms).. Yes, last year had more major storms, but again, they don't typically start in June/July.

32 teams is fine.

They just put in too many European teams and not enough African or Asian teams for my liking.

Plus it's Chile's, Italy's and The Netherlands' fault that they failed to qualify and they are competitive on paper.

I agree that 32 teams should have been it. There are no excuses for teams like Chile, Italy, Netherlands and even the US to not qualify. If it gives some "smaller countries" a shot in the big time because of it, so be it. I mean, Peru hasnt been there since 1982.. Panama has never been there. Iceland? love it. All of these teams deserve to be there based on qualifying. No one was handed a spot (except Russia, who would have never qualified in a million years with their current team).

The current Dutch and Italian squads wouldn't have been particularly entertaining anyway.
