Jed, we were in the middle of our first managerial job search in 22 years. The fans often talk about bringing back former players, so we discussed at least two within the long list. I honestly think the Arteta story was made by the media and then continued by media out of embarrassment. At no point have the club or Arteta mentioned that they were close to an agreement. There was just a massive assumption made with no real supporting evidence.
Glad the club wrapped up the search very quickly with a strong candidate to end the circus.
