What's a lot more relevant is the second very loosely related part of that article. Not sure why Alex would big us up but I would not hesitate to sign Lucas if the opportunity arose. Very inconsistent and hasn't developed the way you'd have hoped but on his day he's unplayable, he'd thrive with a bigger role though I reckon

I agree - would take Lucas here as well at a decent price. If we can get him in and ship Walcott out, would be a good trade for sure.

Whoever replaces either won't be the same, probably slightly underwhelming, and will likely have to excel in a different way (and, in turn, change the team's entire approach to some extent). In that sense, I'm looking forward to whoever the replacements might be, unless they are internal.

Lot of Lacazette interviews/content coming out at the same time as Ozil/Sanchez departure rumors resurface. Really hope Arsenal isn't trying to sell Lacazette as a replacement to them, as it'll never happen. Happy with him on the team but not as our star player/face of the team.

Yeah well I think in Sanchez case it'll be almost impossible to successfully replace him. Lucas doesn't appeal to me at all in this formation though, maybe in a 4-3-3 but even then he doesn't have the edge I'd want.

When Alex was at Chelsea we still had a reputation for playing beautiful, technical football. I reckon that's what it boils down to. If he actually watched Premier League today he'd find at least two other teams that are both more successful and play with a higher technical ceiling than we do.

On the subject of Lucas Moura, I can't decide whether I'd take him or not. I think he's supremely talented but it's been years since he looked like genuine quality on the field. Even last season he seemed a bit off, despite scoring at a better rate.

For me, Mr T cynicism regarding the Lacazette stories is about right.

As for Moura, i remember seeing similarities to Neymar when he first broke through.

but PSG, a club that is geared towards the "now", was the wrong club for his development.
One thing he has retained is the ability to carry the ball at pace for long distances which is another thing our team lacks.

Laca is adapting well and his teammates are adapting to him. His running is top class which creates space for Sanchez and Özil to run into and his workrate is immense. He's a real pest for defenders to deal with as was the case with the Spurs defenders.

My only criticism so far is that he should have scored a couple more goals. No doubt however that there are many, many goals from him to come.

His off the ball game has improved a lot since coming here. Looked a real lazy fucker when he first came. My main criticism is that he seems to lack the drive to be a real top goalscorer. His touch, which is normally very good, seems to desert him in key moments too.

I reckon it's a confidence issue regarding his goalscoring and his occasional lack of composure in dangerous areas. You don't amass a goal scoring record like his if you're not driven to be a top goalscorer. It would help him if Wenger actually gave him the chance to play 90 minutes. I bet he can do a lot of damage to tired defenders.

It just makes a difference to have a top striker in a big match. He was excellent both off the ball and linking up play.

Think his touch is really poor. We've wasted a good few chances because he can't trap the ball or receive a pass while moving. His movement and eagerness to get forward partly makes up for it though. I don't understand why Wenger paid so much for a striker that he either benches or subs off at first opportunity. We're a better team with Lacazette on the pitch. If we're going to achieve anything this season it's going to come from him, Sanchez and Özil playing together.

It's pretty ridiculous, and I appreciate it's not always been a choice, that they've only started 3 games together.

He was great. Makes a huge difference to always have an outlet pushing so far up these matches. I love Olly but he was never able to push a team back like that. Laca really opens up the space between midfield and defence. Going to be tougher against compact teams who are looking for a draw like relegation sides and United but when theres a bit space to run into he's great.

It's in those tight situations that his finishing can make a difference. He struggles when our midfield gets overrun and can't control the game. That's when Giroud is a useful outlet.

Think he also very powerful. Doesn't have a great touch but with more playing time here, once he is used to the physicality of the League, he will learn to use his strength better. He is going to become a more rounded player here.

would have preferred morata myself, but laca has been solid. hopefully that front 3 can string some games together
