It's got elements of both. There's a couple of moments in there where they're deep in the shadow of My Bloody Valentine.
Either way it's a good record in retrospect, a good band when they were still on the make and experimenting with different sounds.
If people had been thinking about it they wouldn't have been surprised by the sharp turn away from Britpop cartoons on the self titled record.
