Oh, I have no problems imagining Kel by himself, dancing in the dark. It is when I imagine Kel among humans it gets eerie.

Old school Y. I remember talking "knowledgeably" to my teenage friends about Suede's new, poppier sound when that one was released. 🙂

Only really their album 'Suede' which I liked, and I still listen to that one with some regularity. Butler leaving the band really screwed them. Bought the following two albums as well, but it just didn't do it for me.
Butler and Anderson are back again, right? Their new material anything like the 'Suede' album?

Thought Coming Up was crap when it came out. Have slightly reassessed since, but it's pretty disposable really. Love Filmstar though.

Butler was on Dog Man Star too. Which an excellent album. I agree with the after he left stuff but Coming Up was partly written by him.

The new album is very good too.

Dog man star is a lot 'poppier' than Suede though. Thought it was nowhere near as good.

In order of poppiness: Coming Up > Suede > Dog Man Star*

Dog Man Star's got a few sprawling and slightly less accessible tracks like Asphalt World.

All other shit albums excluded

Coming Up has loads of great songs, the rot set in with Head Music (and I even tried to convince myself that was worth a listen through for about six months).

Sci-Fi Lullabies is a great collection if you are a Suede fan and haven't got it.

Dog Man Star is definitely the least poppy of Suedes albums.

And do check out Blood Sports, its a very good record.

Hmm. Haven't actually listened to Dog Man Star for probably a decade, but that is not how I remember it compared to Suede. Maybe I just didn't like too many of the tracks. It's the one with We are the pigs and Heroine, right?
