Stevie Ray's version of Little Wing is extraordinary. Not normally even a fan of that sort of virtuoso R&B guitar, but he's so brilliant it's unimpeachable.

Yeah he was something else, the power and ferociousness he got from a Strat with clean amps is unheard of. Heavy guage strings with high action played with flawless technique. A virtuoso.

Nine Inch Nails' latest EP, Add Violence, is the best stuff they've made in yonks.

A Deeper Understanding by The War on Drugs is amazing, their best album yet. What a terrific band.

Grizzly Bear disappoints with their newest album though. Especially considering it's been 5 years since Shields. The indie rock bands that came out of Brooklyn had their time it seems.

Tom Petty dead at 66. Surprised by the news as he was actively touring and in seemingly good health. Not a particular favourite of mine but still sad news. RIP.

Reports now that he's not dead. Seems to be hanging on by a thread though, wouldn't be surprised if he's gone by morning. He's underrated IMO, hope he pulls through.

Never a big fan either, but I have really fond memories of a summer when I was 16/17 and "Last dance with mary jane" was a favourite driving song.

Did music ever get any better than this? Haunting instrumentals, incredible vocal performance, ever relevant lyrics. It's one of the most life affirming songs I know.

Malcolm Young from AC/DC has died just a couple of weeks after his brother. RIP.

She seemed to have suffered a lot in recent years, may she rest in peace
