The main jist seems to be a lot of them got away based on their age, one of the numbers of the alleged men leaked and some woman who has priors for being a racist got done for sending him a nasty message. She spent a weekend in jail because she has some other priors on her record.

The woman who was raped supposedly was drunk and a whole lot of men took advantage of her. I've seen some articles suggest she might have a mental illness but not confirmed. Turns out it wasn't a gang rape but just different men just taking advantage because she wasn't in a good mental of physical state. A lot of these guys wouldn't have even been convicted if a change wasn't made to the law in Germany back in 2016.

i never thought "defeating fascism and nazis" would be such a tough sell, but it seems like so many people are just shrugging their shoulders. its honestly almost too difficult to comprehend. i guess these people shrugging their shoulders assume they will be spared when the atrocities begin, or in the case of the wealthy class, they assume they'll be able to buy their way out of it. and maybe they will. the rest of us will be the ones that get crushed.

It's not really. I don't think people are moving to the far right, people are just sick of the current politicians and their policies. This is people telling current politicians fuck off with your current policies and the current mainstream politicians need to start taking their concerns more seriously.

It has been bubbling under the surface for a while now imo.

It almost seems like casting yourself as some kind of bulwark against fascism while simultaneously deploying needlessly complex technocratic policies that favor corporations and effectuate the continued exploitation of labor and the earth at the expense of people and their communities while spewing identity-based propaganda about inclusivity doesn't make for a sustainable electoral program.

goon they didn’t really ally they agreed to make sure the far right does not get a majority so both withdrew their candidates who finished 3rd for the run off. In that sense their number of seats are inflated.

They still hate each other with a passion, and also remember the left is also a mix of parties who despise each other but allied here. So while this is undoubtedly good, you’re left with an ungovernable mess now.

Seen some people already say the EU and Ukraine will be relieved, Melenchon like many on the far left is soft on Putin and he is not very keen on the EU so not sure how that works. He also is calling for Macron to resign and refusing to work with him.

France has gone from potentially one kind of mess and walked into another. Money markets in France have been a bit over the place recently, can't see this calming any nerves.

This usually means questioning whether it's good to wave on the United States using NATO as a cat's paw for its own strategic purposes ... it's nearly a myth that there's a "pro-Putin left", there are some very odd "tankies" who are staunchly pro-Russia but they're a very small fraction of a very small fraction.

The "far left" largely tends to interpret the war going on in Ukraine as the result of a cynical inter-imperial struggle that's been in progress for over a decade. This is a broadly similar view overall to worthwhile conservative "geopolitics" analysts (for example John Mearsheimer).
