Football is all about results. No place for sentiments.

He had go to in my book to give Leicester any chance of survival. Others might disagree but that's the nature of the business

“This has been the most difficult decision we have had to make in nearly seven years since King Power took ownership ofLeicester City,” said a statement from vice chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha. “But we are duty-bound to put the club’s long-term interests above all sense of personal sentiment, no matter how strong that might be.

“Claudio has brought outstanding qualities to his office. His skilful management, powers of motivation and measured approach have been reflective of the rich experience we always knew he would bring to Leicester City. His warmth, charm and charisma have helped transform perceptions of the Club and develop its profile on a global scale. We will forever be grateful to him for what he has helped us to achieve.

“It was never our expectation that the extraordinary feats of last season should be replicated this season. Indeed, survival in the Premier League was our first and only target at the start of the campaign. But we are now faced with a fight to reach that objective and feel a change is necessary to maximise the opportunity presented by the final 13 games.”

"Long term interests"? yet " change is necessary to maximise the opportunity presented by the final 13 games.”
Sounds pretty short term to me.

Hope they go down.

Timing is a bit odd after a "good" result all things considered.

Clearly the ownership thinks they're bigger than they are

It's puts Wenger's position into perspective don't it.

It'll only make sense if results improve drastically overnight. As far as I'm concerned the players are more to blame than Ranieri.

Wenger would be sacked if we were 1 point of relegation going into the last 12 games of the season.

Different clubs with different objectives.

At a similarly sized club like ours Wenger would've been shown the door a long time ago.

I would have kept him even if they went down. If they struggled in the Championship then clearly you have to get rid, but he deserved more slack for what he achieved last season.

He got his tactics all wrong and has wasted a lot of money on average players.

I don't even think the players believed in what he was doing anymore.

And let's be honest, Ranieiri has form for getting fired after getting it all wrong.

The players have seriously let him down this season.

Nonsense.
Football is rife with emotion and sentiment.

Ruthless , cynical , classless , ungrateful sacking of Claudio Ranieri. Shame on you , Leicester.

@ianWright0
Claudio Ranieri sacked! Unfortunate news I think! Wonder how I'd feel if I was a Leicester player right now?. Could I have done more ??

Hope Leicester get relegated ... Disgusting decision ... Football is one screwed up world ... #Ranieri

A cursory sweep of reaction on-line shows the overwhelming majority of people are on the sentimental side.

That's what most Leicester fans seem to think too, as near as I can tell. Morgan is being painted as one of the biggest villains.

At this stage it's obvious that Leicester are going down regardless of who's managing them. They haven't scored a league goal since Christmas. The last time a team looked this bad was Aston Villa.

You're missing the point.

No, you are.

It's not entirely the players fault. Ranieri has to take some responsibility.

Whatever yva marquer

It's a common saying in football, at least in England.
