What matters is that the Reus ship has sailed.
With the guaranteed extra income next summer from the Emirates deal we will hopefully be a bit more expansive in our transfer policy starting this January, and look to increase our wage bill starting now.
First priority should be to get the players we want to keep on competetive wages, starting with Theo Walcott.

This is the thing that pisses me off about us; okay, there was limited money for a long time but there have been many good players within our budget who have moved in the last 2-3 years.

If the FFP has any real impact in 2 or 3 years then it would be difficult for Man City and Chelsea to splash out the way they currently are. There is no doubt in my mind that we could afford a hefty transfer fee and highish wages on Götze, but if he will want to come here is another matter entirely.

What about the rumors that we offered €30m for Götze? Did they have any substance or were they completely made up?

I think if we were prepared to spend the money Dortmund would want for Götze, we could get him. He's said in the past that his favourite teams outside of Dortmund are Barcelona and Arsenal.

He'd probably cost around 30m though and we all know Arsenal's reluctance to spend higher than 15m on a transfer.

I know that. Which of those can't play amongst a technical team then? Granted zaha is raw but he has the potential to be a flat track bully in the prem

Our scouting has been pretty disastrous for a while now. Can only think of Koscielny in recent times who's been a real steal. Players like Mertesacker and Cazorla weren't exactly unknown qualities. We've missed out on so many good players who've moved for little or even no money. A couple of years ago we would've moved for Reus as soon as he started to bang them in for Mönchengladbach back in 10/11 and put in a serious bid for Kagawa around the same time.
