Nah, it was just Van Persie.

But Song should have been replaced anyway and Wenger admitted as much himself. Late in the summer window he said he wanted a midfielder and a defender and then he said the stuff about december. So he's waiting for a good deal to pop up.

Nonsense. For all his faults, some of the passes Song played into Van Persie were sensational last season.

Song is a decent passer but very erratic. And while some of his passes were great, Van Persie's movement and finishes were even better.

Cazorla is a far better passer and creator than Song. Him behind Van Persie would have been amazing to watch.

You only need one great pass to create a goal. Song was erratic for sure, and tried the Hollywood ball far too often, but you only need to get it right one time out of ten to change a game like yesterday's.

Sums up what I was thinking. I don't understand why people look at it like we had to choose between Song and Cazorla. They don't play the same position.

I can understand why Song was being shipped to be fair. We really needed to replace him though. Instead his spot was inherited by Diaby who never has and never will play five games in a row.

This winter has panic buy written all over it at the moment, which severely devalues the supposedly sensible sales of summer, especially when you throw in Theo's looming departure for a handful of beans to a rival club.

I prefer the days where we had inside forwards cutting in all the time, giving alot of space to our fullbacks. On saturday, we had alot of players on the flanks tripping over one another and only Giroud in the middle.

It's not that we sold him that irks me - it's that we seriously thought Diaby, who's half the player on a good day (which are few and far between), was an apt replacement.

How can any club that's been in the big leagues as long as we have possibly register surprise when an agent tries to secure a special arrangement for a star player?

I'm sorry, but it didn't convince me at the time and it doesn't convince me now. Song and his agent set out the stall to get our attention, and we called their bluff because it was convenient to sell another top performer for another top fee. Just like every summer.

Because when the player has three years left on his contract it's considered a clear violation of the agreement, both juridically and morally.

Don't know to be fair, but I watched Lecce a handful of times last season and he looked like the only promising player every time. Terrific dribbler. Wikipedia says he's only 21. I didn't realise he was that young.
