Don't think you can label that as wiser Rex. Those two are geniuses and then there is a tier of talent just below that Sturridge may just about fit into.

Still, I wouldn't pay £40m for any of them.

AOC, Sturridge, Gervinho

than

AOC, Chamakh, Hazard

Vucinic is another player that fits that profile that we possibly could have signed last summer.

We can´t have just one player though who is capable of playing at CF, as we have now.

Neither can we win important things without a couple more upper tier players; that's of greater concern assuming we are here to compete rather than just stay afloat. It's easy to point to VanPersie and say we need cover for him but perhaps we wouldn't be so reliant on one solitary player and position contributing goals if we had an early Arshavin or peak Pires available for example.

Wouldn´t exactly say a Sturridge or a Vucinic would be just cover here. They are good players.

True, but usually the idea that a player can play through the middle or out wide and be equally good is false. If Chamakh and Park were not so god awful, I'd go with a better quality winger first.

Thats true although there are a few out there. Jovetic has the tools to play all across the front line. He'd be my dream signing.

He's somewhat under the radar at the moment but its only a matter of time before all of Europe wants him - it would be awesome to get him before the hype builds (although i presume the big Italian clubs would want him). I feel the Hazard/Goetze boats have sailed at this point. They will cost too much and there will be too much competition.

Klaus, initially a said "like" as in a type of player. In this case a player who could function both through the middle and as a wing forward. That´s about it for me when comparing Vucinic and Sturridge.

IF we by some miracle manage to get RVP to commit his future to us for another 3 or 4 years, I can only really see us signing 1 attacking player this summer directly for the first team. That is taking into consideration "losing" players like Chamakh, Park, Arshavin and Benayoun.

Can you honestly see us getting both Giroud and Hazard/Götze/Jovetic for instance? I don´t see that. Not with Wenger anyway.

Not too sure about Vucinic on the wing, Rex.

And no, I don't think we'll sign both Giroud and Hazard for the simple reason that we're talking about _£50-55 million in transfer spendings. And then there's wages too. We don't have that kind of money even if we sell off some deadwood (which would realistically have to be replaced anyway).

Yes, Jovetic would play wide. Reckon he's as much an option through the middle as Agüero. Hardly ideal as a centreforward in Premier League but you never know. He's got the build for it if he adds a couple pounds of muscles. Fiorentina play him and Amauri up front at the moment in a two-striker system. To me he looks more like someone who has the potential to turn into a modern Pires if given the chance. He's a quick, skillful player with obvious playmaking qualities who knows where the goal is. If I had to play him centrally I would probably put him in the hole behind Robin instead.

So there's no bonus of versatility in choosing Jovetic over a few of the other wide options we might be interested in. Interesting. And you'd go with Jovetic over Goetze and Hazard as a wide player for us, given the choice?

It depends on what kind of system you use. I don't think there's an obvious advantage in the current formation, no. He's about the same height as Park who Wenger clearly doesn't view as an option up front on his own. Jovetic would give us the option to switch to a 4-4-2 or a 4-2-3-1 whenever we have some players missing on the other hand.

I would be over the moon if we managed to sign either one of them to be honest. I think Jovetic is the only one of them we've got a realistic chance to sign, but he would cost a fortune and we're not exactly alone in looking for players with his profile. Fiorentina are strapped for cash though so you never know. My guess is that he'll stay for another year or two in Florence and then move to one of the Italian giants.

He does look a very good player, Klaus. Watched 30 minutes of him last weekend and he was running the game. Looked a class above everyone else.

Jovetic is a quality player.

He's a gem, Ricky. It's even more remarkable when you think about the horrible knee injury he suffered that kept him out for over a year. He ruptured his ACL, MCL and meniscus at the same time. He had to have surgery twice to repair the damage. They weren't sure whether he'd make a full recovery at first. He made his comeback back in august.

Jovetic is definitely more of a forward. Personally i think he's similar to Suarez in style - probably best playing behind a striker but very comfortable in a wide position and very capable of playing up front alone. Then again some people might not rate Suarez or Jovetic as capable through the middle as i do.
