Crikey. Somebody wants to pay for Chamakh? Good - in the sense we'd get £12 million or so. Bad - in the sense that Wenger might be tempted by some more freebies of Chamakhian quality given the net profit gained when they're transferred on again.

That just won´t happen. We actually have too good a squad to NOT finish top 6 even with a monkey sitting next to Pat Rice. Come January and the panic buying sets in - we may finish even higher, depending on which panic buys we will be able to land. Wenger is going nowhere as long as he has his health.
Well it's a hell of a lot more realistic then him buying a Hazard or a Götze.

Don´t know what was offered, but then again neither do you. More likely that neither Lille nor Dortmund were interested in selling when there was no time for them to get a replacement.
If we end up NOT buying a top class attacking player in January I´ll concede you were right.
We know what was offered for Cahill and we know what Mata went for.
I think Mata was only considered as a Cesc/Nasri replacement unfortunately. We would have signed him had we really wanted to. Cahill is a CB so I don´t quite see how he is relevant.
Believe it was some skulduggery on Valencia's part that saw us miss out on Mata.
Tbh I think it was us fucking up there. My take on it is that we didn´t move until both Cesc and Nasri were done deals, and then it was too late. Makes my angry just thinking about how poorly we handled ourselves this summer.
