Worth noting the Guardian has published a long article on this subject with reports from "open source journalism" and comments from United States "experts" about JDAM impacts etcetera.

As with "Bush did 9/11", the better line is to recognise that Israel is an occupying nation, thousands of civilians have already been killed in this offensive, and that if the offensive wasn't happening the hospital blast wouldn't have happened. The forensics are a distraction.

Meatwad It's the "bellingcat" model but it's been hinted a few times the central figures in "open source journalism" (such as Eliot Higgins himself) seem to have ties to western intelligence. Whether or not they do they seem to pop up very consistently with material supporting the United States or NATO line on various conflicts.

It's not journalism at all. It's media forensics, which can provide evidence of anything (and are, therefore, evidence of nothing).

Europe spent most of the last decade laughing at American extremism but it's going to get a whole lot worse in Europe, particularly in a few countries who've not dealt with this in recent history.

Germany is overcompensating too much. Seen the St Pauli fans calling Celtic fans anti-Semitic for bringing Palestinian flags to the ground.

Governments just don't know how to bring about peace between communities domestically. Jewish and Muslim communities in Europe aren't responsible for what's happening in Gaza so violence towards either group in a third country makes no sense.

KingslandBarge last few weekends of peaceful protests in London have been heartening. The odd pocket of callousness and extremism, but otherwise attended by folks from all walks. Seems like this dustbin is conspiring to smear tomorrow's planned efforts (across Eng but particularly capital)

Fucking hell eh. The Europe that originated the antisemitism that fostered the Holocaust, now to be seen using this speculation about antisemitism as a rationale for a refusal to honestly report the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza, and to selectively silence, re-costume, re-educate, deport and exclude its Muslim minorities. Nothing to see here.

There are some dissenters. Amnesty just brought out a report damning the Prevent programme as racist and worthless in the UK.

Both Muslim and Jewish minorities have had hate thrown there way in the past month. It’s not one group at the exclusion of the other domestically.

Mirth Both antisemitism and Islamophobia are very real and heightened everywhere by the events. It's just the ways charges of antisemitism and charges of Islamophobia condition UK public life are different.

goon I feel you. Wrote an earnest letter to my MP begging her to join calls for a ceasefire and reduced my time thinking about it a few days ago. My country's a worthless diplomatic client of the United States.
