It's easy to see us continuing to decline this, and next season. There's so little in the squad to generate excitement, our best players want to leave and Koscielny, Mertesacker and Cazorla are finished/ on their final legs. I can't think of a single player I'd be upset to hear we'd sold, fuck knows which core we rebuild around.
After next season hopefully we recover but there's nothing to guarantee it.
We will recover the moment Wenger leaves. The club is in serious need of rejuvenation.
Depends on how low he can drag us before he goes.
I can see his point.
I'd like to retain Ozil and surround him with serious players that compliment his style.
I'd also like to go to the moon
The latter of which is more likely to happen.
"Özil is a warrior..."
Stopped reading there.
Would like to have whatever Pires is smoking.
Wenger and merte doth protest too much about these 2 being 100% committed. The amount of denial and spin coming out of the club is unreal these days
They have no choice but to stick to the story. They kept Özil and Sanchez because the club knew the fans would riot if they started selling off the crowning achievements of our transfer business in the last few years, then almost changed their minds and sold Sanchez in the 11th hour. Now we're stuck with a squad that is just as bad as last year's only both of our two theoretical top players are broken.
No one seriously wanted Ozil so they had no choice but to keep him. With Sanchez no one was willing to pay the price, but even then they were willing to sell but only didn't because they couldn't get Lemar. Now they're stuck with both of them.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jul/30/arsene-wenger-mesut-ozil-arsenal-standoff I worry that this reasoning is being shown to be flawed as a club's best defence is to over-price the player https://www.fourfourtwo.com/sg/news/spalletti-inter-captain-icardi-needs-higher-release-clause (see also bale, coutinho, neymar, etc). Unfortunately for us, both players seem to have chosen under-performance as a way of counter-acting this and it seems to be working as we are now resigned to getting peanuts/nothing for both.
Underperformance is also due to the team and the manager. Ozil is not really underperforming - he hasn't shown a significantly higher standard than this for more than half a season over the last 4 yrs anyway. Our signings over the last 5 years have been atrocious overall - whether for big money or not.

I thought my post was clear as to my reasons for underperformance which i didn't present as fact but, rather, my opinion of their individual interest over our collective interest.
Don't care what happens to Alexis and Ozil. I know I should but I just can't get worked up about it.
Will be hard to get jazzed up about top signings if we ever make another one based on how we handle them
Can't imagine how our dressing room is at the moment if the reports are true about Ozil telling our players he will be off to United.

If he really told them that you'd have to hope he'd be shunned or get it a bit rougher in training. Something.
I can't imagine that it's true. What does he have to gain by telling them?

What, with our pathetic lot? 😆
Half the team wants to leave i'd bet most of these sanchez, ozil, ramsey, theo, Jack, theo, bellers, xhaka, mustafi would all be gone in a heartbeat. I can't see that dressing room turning on just one of them.
I don't think much has changed. Remember Vieira egging on Ashely Cole?
You would naturally lose authority though. If I'm Ramsey and Sanchez shouts at me for giving the ball away I'd tell him to fuck off.
