Milik has been highly impressive so far this season. Thought 30m was a ridiculous fee for him as I wasn't impressed with him before at all, looked like a poor finisher despite getting on the ende of a lot of chances, reminds me of a young Lewandowski in that sense. Ajax really got a hell of deal though, bought him for 2m just a season ago from Leverkusen

Thought he was really poor with his finishing in euros despite some good build up play but so far for Napoli he's been fantastic. Fee looks to be a bargain if he continues like this.

We should have got Milik. With Bergkamp at Ajax i am sure we would have known just how good he is. Unless Bergkamp thought he was not good enough for Arsenal, i was very surprised we did not seem to be in for him.

I guess a lot of English clubs are approaching Eredivisie with a lot of caution.

Not a good track record in recent years with players making the transition.

Dutch NT also seems to be doldrums.

Because he has taken Sassuolo from the lower table in Serie B to a top 6 finish in Serie A and subsequent Europa League play in the span of 3-4 years.

There is a significant difference than taking a middling lower league club and banding them together t make a team that is greater than their sum of parts and taking a top side with all the talent in the world and the different egos to match and molding them into world beaters.

There's a difference for sure, but it's not like it's harder to coach an abundance of quality than it is to get a Serie B side into Europe. It just requires a bit of diplomacy. There's no reason Di Francesco wouldn't get more out of clubs like Inter and Milan than their recent managers have.

Didn't Moyes take Everton from being relegation contenders to being a consistent Europa League side only to fail at his first chance at major superpower club ?

Any serious analysis would have to consider what the clubs looked like when he took over and how long their respective boards were willing to wait for success (or even how it was defined). Louis van Gaal was one of his generation's most revered managers with league titles in Holland, Spain and Germany on his track record, and he failed even worse than Moyes. Mourinho looks like he's going to struggle there too.
