I think Arteta just does not want to say publicly that he fucked up his substitution of Zubi for White and corrected it because of an 'injury' to Calafiori (which just happened to be the substitution we needed at halftime).

Edit - commentators after the half said they were being told it was not injury related. I tend to believe that, as Cala was also playing pretty bad.

USArsenal I'm not convinced he was injured either. Arteta had to rectify the handicap he'd placed on the team and he couldn't take Zubi off so had to go with Cala.

If he was happy with his initial sub and Cala was injured he would have put Hincapie on and left Rice at RB. Also Cala was fine joining in the celebrations when we scored haha.

If it had been an injury and he were stubborn he just would have brought on Hincapie for Calafiori.

It'd be cruel throwing him in against the most dangerous winger in the world right after coming back from a serious long-term injury. Now with White out again, we don't have another option though. Just pray that he somehow manages to get fit.

And he knew he was just starting to find his game again, and he knows he probably would have started the next few games since Timber is still out. Horrible timing for it. Hopefully one of the 2 of them is back for the CL final. I think we can get by against Burnley and CP with Mosquera though.

well i'm in favor of not putting bbq chicken in defense for PSG to dine out on us. we're not built to win 4-3 against them. ideally it would be timber and hincapie. cala off the bench in this one would be good.

Claudius yeah in a team bound by structure he and MLS are really the only two to buck convention. I can't imagine trying to scout Calafiori and set up a defensive plan to guard him. You're asking wingers, fullbacks, center mids, and center backs to be mindful of him, and with that many involved groupthink is going to lead to lapses in concentration.
