interesting you bring up Rooney, Quincy. any Guardiola discussion should obviously quickly pivot to Mourinho. and i'm sure the man who used to be the Special One is attentively watching events at City. he tried a similar approach of binning big name players at United, but he clearly did not target the right people. he went after low-hanging fruit in Schweinsteiger and Mata, and left the biggest problem alone, even building the team around him. if Mourinho had cast aside Rooney in the way that Guardiola has dealt with Hart, Toure, Mangala, etc., maybe he'd be in a slightly better place.
