What's been infuriating is the co-opting of the left by liberals whose abuse social progressivism to advance their own corporatist agenda. From my own direct experience, as well that of millions of leftists the world over, the various strains of Marxist-Leninism, Maoism, democratic socialism, anarchism, autonomism, ecosocialism, socialist feminism, etc. have little problem at all working together for the common good under the basic opposition to capitalism. The only people on the actual outside are fucking liberals, the so-called centrists, the compromised (rather than compromising) left, who are straight up bought by the devil himself and whose only purpose for existence is to win elections and sell off what rightfully belongs to us all.
Incrementalism is a total joke, especially at national-level politics. You have to do both, you have to say this is all wrong, you have to espouse a revolutionary politics, and then you have to cast votes that make things better for people right now on top of it. I don't get why it's so hard for people to understand, and I suspect it's not. Rather, I don't think people want to understand it, because it implicates them, either through complicity or sheer ambivalence/laziness.
