The jubilee line is probably one of the lines I most prefer to be honest. After using it for so many years I really can't complain about it 9ther than the packed journeys but that's trypical rush hour on most lines.

My only other regular commutes include either changing to the central line or using the Thameslink/Picadilly lines on my way to Holborn and can't say either of them are better.

Actually I changed my mind. On my last trip back to London it seems that Thameslink now use new trains that are actually very nice, wish they had those while I still lived in London.

I actually take a slightly longer route to work just to avoid it. Admittedly it also saves me £50 a month but I’d do it regardless. Overground is much, much more pleasant. Especially in the summer.

Brexit is popular at either extreme - for different reasons. The only people that are unanimously against it tend to be centrist. Similarly being a Blairite is generally considered a centre left or centre right positon.

I'd probably say the Standard is centre right

That might be true of the electorate, but on the political spectrum it seems to be concentrated to the right, or the hard right even. Even the likes of Corbyn, at least officially, backed remaining in the EU as did Momentum.

In central Europe at least there are quite a few right wingers who are staunchly pro-EU but in general you're right, being pro or anti Brexit does not say a whole lot about your political affiliation.

Even on the academic left there are heated debates about whether Brexit, Grexit etc are reasonable courses for the future or not - if you read Varoufakis' recent book in which he describes his tenure as finance minister he himself even seemed of two minds about it. Which is perfectly understandable because backing out of an political and economic union like this has no precedent. On the left at least nobody actually wishes back for the times of national isolation but there are certainly large differences on how to fix the current European malaise; either you operate under the same framework and try to make it a little more humane or you tear it down and build something new in its place.

I can't knock it as it is quick and comes every minute.

Worry when they start putting up infrastructure on the border and ports - a process that takes 3-5 years by most estimates therefore impossible to complete by the deadline. Until then it's empty bluster.

They've ran ads for border guards in NI papers. Would it really take 3-5 years to get something in place?

It's a massive clusterfuck. We have a government who can't fucking agree on anything within it's own fucking cabinet, never mind within the party, in Parliament or with the fucking EU.

I'd say an election is needed but I genuinely don't think it would solve anything as neither party would get the large majority it needs to circumvent the rebels within it's ranks.

Mirth is probably right, the deadline, along with the border issue, will probably be extended somehow.

Just quoting what I read in the news around December when it looked like the border issue was going to derail the talks.

In fact, I think as part of the December agreement the government pretty much guaranteed that, in an absence of a solution, the customs border would be between NI and Britain.

Obviously that's not a binding agreement but backing away from that would make it impossible for any kind of subsequent FTA to be negotiated in good faith. Never mind all the short term damage that would cause.
