Most polls indicate that the majority of the public believe Labour have the best policies for them and their families. It's the competency of the Labour party and, in particular the shadow cabinet that's holding them back now.
So it's a choice now between good policies and doubts over the personnel who are asked to implement them on one hand and bad policies and the certainty of them being put in effect on the other. Difficult decision for the people in the UK
There's definitely an element of people who vote against their own interests - yes.
Although you're overstating it since the policies that I was referring to were around social care and families. There's less confidence that Labour are the right party to sort out the productivity crisis that hit the UK economy since 2008. Moreover, half the reason why the Tories have been able to get away with so much - particularly since 2015 - is because Corbyn and his opposition were so ineffective!
If Corbyn was this forceful during PMQs or during the referendum or at any other point in the last two years, he'd be a lot closer to winning the election. As it stands he's only really got going since the election was announced which really isn't going to change anyone's mind since the large majority if the public are not nearly as invested in politics as you or I.
