yeah i get the feeling that they genuinely dislike each other.
the VP really only has 2 duties:
- broker important deals for the president, especially domestically
- appear capable of actually being the president if there is a crisis
for #1, you need someone who is respected on both sides and can work with both sides. for that reason, i think elizabeth warren's apparent vetting is just for show. shes pretty liberal and i think people keep mentioning her because of the need to "push hillary to the left"..but i honestly dont think she needs to worry about convincing democrats to vote for her instead of trump.
the idea of picking someone because they can help you in the general election doesnt seem all that important here, since the general election doesnt look like it will be close. vermont is voting democrat no matter what, so picking bernie wouldnt help there, and i think hes alienated too many people during the primaries to really work with republicans on compromises and legislature. kaine is a middle of the road moderate, so i can see why he'd be valued in that regard.
