We are guaranteed to go on a run now that everyone is writing us off (and create a bit of hope for some fans), only for us to bottle it when expectations grow again around February/March.
Nothing to do with bottling it, a run can only go on so long. We could win 6 or 7 on the trot to claw back some or all of those 9 points but then the cycle starts again, you drop off a little and the other sides pick up. The issue is falling so far back in the first place, it means you need to essentially be invincible in the entireity of the second half of the season.
We weren"t that far off Leicester for most of last season, we just imploded at a crucial stage in the season.
I have seen enough of us in the last 10 years to conclude we totally bottle it in the 2nd half of the season the moment expectations grow and the title is in sight. We do things like lose to Swansea at home or against Man United B team away from home. The real title contenders grind out wins during that period even when they are playing poorly.
