So I'll be honest. I was quietly confident all summer that Wenger would get the business done nice and early in the summer transfer window. I imagined that he had learned from his hubris of buying no outfield players last season. Plus the early bids for Xhaka and Vardy suggested a man on a mission.
Instead, I'm left cold again, as I am every August. I'm looking closely at these next two weeks. If Wenger doesn't do a thing, I am seriously contemplating not watching his team this season. No, this isn't about fuck the team. It's about being tired of re-runs. How many times would you watch Jurassic Park knowing that the dinosaur is about to eat the bloke hiding in the shit-house? It gets stale after a while. We know how this story unfolds from here on.
Have to agree.
I could only watch the first half on Sunday, and came back to check a scoreline rather than watch the 2nd half (had recorded it). Had a sense we weren't going to make it worthwhile to watch, and that is far far from my old approach when I would have been excited to watch it and had #belief.
Not much going on that excites me - only compelling stories are if Kos can go god mode to keep our defense afloat, can Bellerin not suffer a sophmore slump, and what Ozil / Sanchez will do this year....tad of interest in Ramsey's season too but not much hope there.
