In fact I can name the entire gold medal winning squad from those games two decades ago, while I can't even remember half the team that won our last Afcon trophy in 2013!
No offense, but Copa América is a MUCH bigger deal than the African Cup of Nations.
Copa América is also a bigger deal than the Olympics in general, but THIS awful marketing-ploy of a tournament currently being held in the U.S. is arguably less important than any of the above.
Basically all contenders in the same round were forced to move from one extreme of the U.S. to another (with the disastrous travel times and timezone impacts this entails) except for México.Â
It's a joke. It'll be fun to watch but it's basically meaningless for everyone except México and Argentina, who badly want to add a trophy to their cabinet.
