samthegooner The established problem now is it's bloody hard to significantly improve this side by upgrading Martinelli. All the more true when we've already got guys like Trossard and Eze on the books. Segments of our fans believe they're already the upgrades on Gabi.

We've reached a point where none of our starters is that easy to push up a level and the doubtful or situational impact of Eze and Gyökeres is telling us this.

If we really want to push up, now's the time to place bets on godlike talents under 20.

The other opportunity is to proactively figure out which starters are about to decline and either cover them, or consider moving them on.

Assuming you mean he's not an improvement on Martinelli, I agree.

But "the same" is top of the league, undefeated in CL group stage, progressing in both domestic cups, so "more of the same" is great.

If Trossard goes Gordan makes sense but he's not a level raising option. I hope we are looking at him as an option but have a couple of level raisers above him we are going to go for first.

Only for the acceleration factor would I consider Barcola. Too similar to Martinelli

Barcola is exactly like Martinelli. He can be good but you probably want better.

Barcola is electric in transition and space - there's no denying it at all. However, he's an inconsistent finisher at best and we would get very frustrated with that. I also have big doubts on how his skills would translate in games where we are pinning in a low block. He has incredible skills with the ball but I wouldn't characterize it as translating to tight spaces as his touches seem to be a bit loose (which works in space since he has the speed to still get to the ball before the opposition). Kvara and Doue are the wingers from PSG that I think would bring our attack to the next level.

Sicario2 looks good but short comp can make anyone look good and playing in the Dutch league made Malen a goal every 2 game striker.. fir anything £30 or below he could be worth a punt though as his technical ability and ball striking looks like something that can be worked with and he's rapid.
