Welbeck is about as baffling an investment as Balotelli. Unlike Sturridge he's always for me seemed a very suspect finisher. He works hard but he has a similar/lesser scoring rate than Bendtner having exactly the same role as Bendtner did. For a player who's going to cost 15-20m from a rival plus an increase on his supposed 60-70k a week terms on a long term deal it represents a considerable outlay. Probably a similar one to Lukaku maybe given Lukaku's fee might be higher but Welbeck would look for a higher wage.

I'd worry about him settling in tbh. He presumably doesn't speak English and we have no Italian speakers in the squad.

Safer to go for an English, German, Spanish, or French speaker. Especially since we need someone who can hit the ground running and deliver from the off.
