Tbh I agree with both you guys regarding signing great players or technically amazing footballers even if the orice seems high. Not discounting his quality or anything, as I remember him being absolutely amazing a few years ago when he first broke through. I'm just commenting on that video itself, it didn't seem like I was watching a special talent based on that touch comp but it's all I had seen of him for a long, long time.

The point about the fee is legit and so are questions about whether the money would improve us more if we spread it out, but I remember people saying similar things about Henry once. He wasn't cheap either, nor did he seem to fit our needs as a malfunctioning winger.

Sometimes you just have to go for it when a talent appears that could be generational. We missed out on Mbappe so let's try for the next one.

Maybe I just caught a game that didn't really showcase his strengths, or maybe he's a bit of it whether through lsck of confidence or having it coached out of you in such a rigid system. But if he still has the same stuff in his locker that he had that made him one of the hottest properties in Europe then for sure, well worth a big gamble.

Personally I would go for him at the £70m-£75m point.

No more than that as we still need another striker at least, and depending on who else leaves, maybe another attacker/winger.

Joao would be sensational with Odegaard behind, and the likes of Saka, Smith-Rowe, Martinelli running off him.

Add in the talk re Haaland, Martinez & Felix and I like that we are going after talent and giving ourselves options.
I also like the talk of Nkunku as I'd like to see a genuine goal threat in midfield - perhaps Saka could be converted to the role?
I also like the idea of Sanches to replace Xhaka as I want someone who is a ball carrier who can preferably beat the defender with ball at feet.

Dybala is a scary foreshadow of what could become of Felix. They're both in that same tier of talent and a joy to watch. Shame that Dybala has been restricted by Juventus for so many years. But I suppose that's what happens when you're a 10 in the modern game, and no one commits to building around you.

I think what sets Felix apart from Dybala is his dribbling and mobility, and I think that's a big deal because it means Felix can play and be effective in positions other than as a traditional 10. I see more of Kaka in Felix than Dybala.

That is high praise indeed.

AC Milan Kaka before that knee injury was simply my dream player. Intelligence, elusiveness, unbelievable balance and dribbling plus the finishing to match.

I've always liked the Kaka comparison, and agreed that Felix can play across an array of positions.

My comparison to Dybala, a more static player, was more about seeing talent wasted because the modern game doesn't love a 10.

Lewandowski would be such a trap. He's absolutely ace, but has so many miles on him.

He's got a year left on his contract, so you'd be paying some 30+m for a transfer. Then what, a 2 year contract and he leaves on a free? or a 3 year year, and you hope he retires in Italy after 2 seasons all while you recoup fuck all on a transfer/loan fee.

Only reason I'd consider it would be if we made CL this year, couldn't find a legit striker, and wanted to actually have a decent CL run (past round of 16). I truly think this team is a class CF away from being able to do that.

lewandowsi would be a dream. i remember discussing him when he was at dortmund and people said he was limited and he wouldnt be worth making a fuss over. he then scored 300+ goals for bayern

Lewandowski would also provide a great role model for the likes of Balogun, however my thought is that we'd need to change the CF role in order to get the best from him and not to add extra miles to his legs during the season. If we are looking for someone who is lethal in the box and can get on the end of crosses then he is better than most and on track for his 7th consecutive season to score 40+ in all comps.
