Hakimi is incredible. This is the kind of player who changes destinies. The ability to launch all out attack with Tierney and Hakimi on either wing would be frightening for opponents. Opponents would stay under pressure

They have a contract, if he doesn’t want to go he doesn’t have to, especially if the potential destination doesn’t appeal to him.

It is his choice? I don't think we'd be the only team interested in him. I saw Bayern want him recently.

They can sell Lukaku to make most of that money deficit.

I think the notion that someone like Hakimi is a prospect for us is a bit fanciful. We've been steadily falling away for years to the point that we can now no longer call ourselves a European club.

I would like to think Odegaard's time here has shown him we could be a good move, but if it wasn't for the loan I don't think we'd be an attractive proposition for him this summer (if we go in for him).

We might be in for a rough time in terms of the quality of players we can attract going forward. We do still have prestige to call on and we might be able to sell a vision. But we can't offer European football, and I really don't want to go down the road of having to add a hefty premium to wages to convince players to join us.

Totally agree there. We need to be agile, I'd rather take more gambles on youngish players with lesser wages so its easier to move them on if it doesn't work out.

Honestly we long went down that road already, why do you think we got guys like Pepe Partey or even Gabriel. We have a great name but so does Milan, the reason we still attract big names is stupid English money if we're totally honest.

That doesn't mean we need to keep making similar mistakes. Plus we bought all those players when we were a European team, now we are not. We can't afford to load up on more silly wages.

Nothing wrong with incentivising players interested in joining with a large salary, but incentivising a players who have no interest with purely an oversized salary is another matter entirely.

that's what i thought about partey before he signed. don't underestimate how much we pay and how much these players want that. partey passed up staying with a title challenger for big wages.

the key is to learn from the partey experience and not sign these players. we want to be the club selling partey at 27 or 28, not the one buying him. hakimi is the right age profile though.
