I think the notion that someone like Hakimi is a prospect for us is a bit fanciful. We've been steadily falling away for years to the point that we can now no longer call ourselves a European club.
I would like to think Odegaard's time here has shown him we could be a good move, but if it wasn't for the loan I don't think we'd be an attractive proposition for him this summer (if we go in for him).
We might be in for a rough time in terms of the quality of players we can attract going forward. We do still have prestige to call on and we might be able to sell a vision. But we can't offer European football, and I really don't want to go down the road of having to add a hefty premium to wages to convince players to join us.
