Chelsea just lost former Premier League Player of the Year Hazard for some 100m Euros. And then they hired Lampard as coach.

We are talking about this summer. Nobody will say Ramsey is on the same level as Hazard.

In terms of players who are not replaceable internally I think it's similar. They also signed Pulisic, and Kovačić permanently, before the ban took effect. I know nothing about Lampard as a coach but he'll have to be a real pisstake to be weaker than what we've got.

When comparing weakest summer you have to see Lampard compared to Sarri and Emery compared to Emery and see which is the biggest downgrade.

My money is on Emery compared to Emery. Everyone can get an appointment wrong, but it takes a special club to inflict that damage on themselves a second time.

One thing our summer thus far might have illustrated though is that Wenger alone wasn't responsible for our malaise in the transfer market. Nothing has really changed with our approach to the window.

I said Wenger alone wasn't responsible for the malaise in our transfer dealings. What have we done to prove that the rot doesn't run deep or should I say at the top?

On the signings that you and a lot of people keep alluding to - for starters, we made poor signings, we aren't the first, nor will be the last club to do so. Even if Wenger alone was responsible for them, which I doubt he was given that he wanted rid of Mustafi after one season reportedly, didn't start Xhaka immediately, barely played Perez, then no one at the club right now has done much different.

Time to go in the window but it remains to be seen if anything has changed with respect to the transfer market.

Thinking about it. It’s not the end of the world if Spurs get Saliba. There are plenty of ways we can improves our shitty squad this summer

TBH I think the lack of budget and too many holes to fill is the main influence this summer, which has it's roots back under the previous regime.

Wouldn't be the first time we've self imposed an equivalent to a ban. IMO much of our current issues re players & budget originates back in the season AW didn't sign any outfield players, and only signed Cech because he was available for 10m.
