Personally don't think Guendouzi is ready. Would seriously consider loaning him out for a season. Good potential, but have no confidence in him yet to be a midfield mainstay.

Linked to Gary Cahill. If Saliba is to be loaned back to St Etienne, then we will be short of options as I think Kos will be leave ahead of Mustafi. Worried this could turn out like Lichsteiner where being a free agent and recent pedigree made it look like a no brainer short term solution but ended up being a colossal waste.

Beginning to lean in this direction also. He just doesn’t impact the game as much as he can or should from his position. He looks busy and doesn’t hide, but he is just not very effective. Been hanging out with El Neny too long maybe.

I’d keep him as a squad option though rather than loan him out. He has enough for that much at least, and may develop better in house. We need someone like him to keep legs fresh and play in the Europas and Carling Cups.

A few starts and more appearances off the bench are not what I think the kid needs. He has the right attitude, but restricted chances I think will make him too eager to impress when he needs to learn patience and tempo management. For me he should be loaned to a PL team. Thought about whether he could go Celtic on loan as part of a deal for Tierney, and while I'm sure he would improve, it's not the right environment to make him first team ready in the PL.

We need more players who can let the game come to them and who doesn't try to force things. It's primarily a change of pace, not pace in itselft, that creates space and breaks down defenses.

I thought the reason why CFC didn't extend him was because his legs are going much like with Monreal, in which case he'd be a liability in the backline playing a high line.

I didn't know he still played. I looked it up; bloke's 30 in February. Seems to be looking for a 3.5 million signing-on fee too. The transfer has Arsenal written all over it, and not in a good way.

Apparently we have been linked with Julian Weigl.

He was very highly rated at Dortmund under Tuchel but seems to have lost his way due to injuries and loss of form.

Any takers for him as a pivot for our midfield ?

Would be very interesting, but he was weak athletically.

At this point I would try him instead of Xhaka

I've never rated Pulgar as a world class player, but he is still young and a very competent defensive midfielder. If rumours are true and we could get him for 12M that would be a very good deal.

Just a few days ago I was thinking that out of the current crop of young chilean players, Pulgar is arguably the only true bargain.

Perhaps we can sign him to take all the free kicks Zaha is going to win for us?
