Kovacic was without option to buy too but Chelsea bought him for 50m euros anyway.
Anybody knows about him?
Anyway summary from Orny 5live
-We could sell Auba but very unlikely. Some deliberation on Zaha's physical abilities but we are huge admirers and he's an Arsenal fan
-Emery wants Mustafi out. Selling him will prove hard as we've tried to sell him numerous times. In fact, we have tried to sell Mustafi pretty much every window after we signed him but completely no takers.
-Optimism on Tierney, could end up costing about £25m, but rumours say less than £20m.
-We are still targeting a B2B & a wide player.
-Talks about impact of staggering payments too so we can buy more players with our £45m budget.
-Talks re Emery, Edu, Sanllehi are all key in decision making process & Orny feels Edu already involved. Sanllehi focused on contacts side.
-Salaries have to be factored into the £45m as well, not only transfer fees.
Thanks for the update, mate.
I know this is a controversial subject, but I wonder if the last point means the figure of £45m has to be viewed from the perspective of how buying a player impacts our annual player spend in terms of wages and amortisation of transfer fees? Ornstein said the same thing about the potential £100m Champions League budget he put out into the public domain.
Just plucking names from the list of players we have been linked to, more for the rough fees and wages the club seem to be working to:
Schubert* = £6m + 30k/week 5 year contract = £2m/year player cost
Martinelli = £6m + 30k/week 5 year contract = £2m/year player cost
Saliba = £25m + 70k/week 5 year contract = £8m/year player cost
Tierney = £25m + 70k/week 5 year contract = £8m/year player cost
Praet = £25m + 70k/week 5 year contract = £8m/year player cost
Carrasco = £30m + 100k/week 5 year contract = £11m/year player cost
All guesswork on the figures, but a summer like that would increase our annual player costs by £39m. Even though, in terms of transfer fees, the conventional view of what the figure that represents our budget means, £117m would have been spent.
And I haven't factored in agent fees into the sum or allowed for higher amortisation costs due to shorter contracts. If, for example, Praet and Carrasco were signed on 3 year contracts instead of 5 years, then the yearly cost to Arsenal would instead be £11m for Praet and £15m for Carrasco. That'd be a roughly £46m increase in our annual player costs.
Coincidence or what the figure for the budget actually represents?
- Free transfer but we will have to pay Dynamo Dresden compensation because he's under 23.
