He has scored around 150 goals in the last 3-4 years. That's why his market value is sky high. The only relevant question is whether he will still be that player a year from now. Shevchenko, for all his hype, was never this good. Torres was never this good.

He's declined the past year. No matter how you argue it he has. My point was a lot of top strikers his age or a year older just continue that decline and don't get to the same level again.

Were you guys all asleep when Cavani tore Serie A apart for three years? And had 5 goals and 2 assists in 8 Champions League games when Napoli was there in '11-'12? Can't believe he's being doubted here. He takes us from 4th to title contenders, 100%.

Defending is a lot better in Serie A than it is in Ligue 1. Even given its decline, Serie Amight have the best defending in the world.

Cavani has hat-tricks against all the top teams in italy. (roma, milan, juve, inter & lazio)

look on here at his stats for Napoli please. he's levels above giroud.

Think Tim's point was sound personally. The French league is not a great indicator of class.

Then again, no one wants Cavani because of what he's done in Ligue 1.

In all seriousnesses, Cavani is obviously world class, and I don't think there's a chance he's 'lost it' because of one difficult season. But the money involved in any potential transfer would be astronomical. I think it'd be stretching us to our limits.

Cavani is a fantastic striker. He's a well rounded footballer, who scores goals for fun and has a tremendous attitude and work rate. Ten times the footballer or striker Giroud ever will be.
