Guesses for who is the 'madness' or mystery attacker we are looking to bring in..? We know it has to be a forward but no one has a clue if he is a CF or a WF.

I think it could be Draxler. Known target, a style of play that would suit Arsenal and someone who is on record to be wanting a move. Who else?

Its hinted to be Lewandowski. At first thought to be Griezmann. My own dark horse madness bet is Bale.

Maybe Neymar is sick of playing second fiddle to Messi, and tired of the Spanish demanding that he pay his taxes?

Literally crying here mate. 😆

There's absolutely zero chances any of those happen. I don't know why you guys still believe that massive fool Dean.

Those clubs have to sign someone before there's even a tiny hope. Real took ages to sign Bale, and THEN we got Özil. There's no deal in that category happening anywhere in Europe.

Brahimi in talks with Everton already.

thats......well. i dont even know

Ah well. We've got our madness to look forward to this week! 🙂

no chance. hes fucking ancient and on like £300k per week, not to mention our midfield is the only place where we have actual depth

😆 at Yaya Toure. Pep has called him out this week, saying what we all know: he has to run more off the ball 😆

and then there's Yaya Sanogo, of whom Ronald de Boer said 'there are no useful qualities'

Yes, sorry, I have to agree with Chili on this.

After all the let downs and reality of no striker EVER coming to us .... where do you still get this optimism? It's nice to dream though , so not a put down.

Dont want that stupid looking cunt anywhere near Arsenal. He's injured all the time too.

AFCamden aka dean should be put down as an ITK if nothing happens.

if we signed phil jones and jonny evans this summer, i think arsenal fans should do an occupy style protest/revolt outside the emirates

How many times does he have to be wrong before people stop paying attention to him?

He always has a get out clause in his tweets.

"As I'm being told a big player is being targeted, we're working on it" This is a standard type of tweet from him.

If nothing comes off, he says he was simply told, and all he's doing is passing on a message, simultaneously shifting the blame.

Then if it happens, he's certified itk?! I'm sure he has some connection within the club but it's not like he's got his feet under the table with Gazidis and Wenger either side of him.

It's simply information, and as such it has to be taken at face value. Either you trust the source or you don't (please don't). Information that we want to sign a player that never materialises in a transfer might be just as accurate as information that we're after a player we end up signing. You rarely get a chance to verify who has a credible source and who hasn't, because football clubs only sign a fraction of the players they profess interest in.

Personally I think it's unlikely that anyone on Twitter has a steadily reliable transfer source inside the club, except for journalists like Ornstein whom Arsenal keep feeding information when it suits them. Cross used to get a few scraps too but he must have pissed off someone within the club.

lol, i just saw this after i wrote my long post in the new thread. this is pretty much spot on. people outside the club know things. they dont know everything, and sometimes they are given false information on purpose.

Arsène Wenger pursuing Antoine Griezmann? We take a look
Squawka’s chief writer Greg Stobart released a report yesterday claiming that Arsenal have spent the summer pursuing Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid.

GFFN received information to a similar effect this Monday lunchtime.

Arsène Wenger is understood to have begun to actively pursue the idea midway through EURO 2016, after watching Olivier Giroud and Antoine Griezmann compliment each other well going forward, notably against the Republic of Ireland. This was therefore after the announcement that Antoine Griezmann had signed a one year contract extension with Atleti until 2021.

The player’s €100m release clause has however so far been an impossible obstacle for Arsenal to overcome. Arsène Wenger has always been very clear that he is willing to spend money on world-class talent, they just have to be available.

€100m has however up to this point been too great a stretch, even though as Mr Stobart’s report insinuates, intermediaries working on behalf of Arsenal felt that the French international would be open and even interested in moving to the North London club.

It appears that the Arsenal board are allegedly not willing to give Wenger the funds to activate the player’s release clause, despite the currently hostile atmosphere surrounding the Emirates.

One thing that Arsenal cannot reproach Mr Wenger for therefore, is, he is at least trying to cause the “madness” that Arsenal fans have been craving for throughout the summer transfer window.

this gffn mob have been awful all window though. at one point they were adamant kante wanted to join us, then they started parroting the mahrez stuff

what did he say this time ?

its on

really never been wowed by this guy tbh

My worry is that a lot of what he brings would be crushed by the pace and physicality of the prem

Let's hope it is because if he comes to the PL it won't be to us.

We're not in for James, he's a Mendes client and we won't spend £60m+ on an attacking midfielder when we're in dire need of a striker and a defender.

You're probably right due to the Mendes issue. However it'd be very like Wenger to go and blow his load on another attacking mid instead of fixing the actual problems we have.

^ that is too easy to see happening.

Do we have any links at all to an attacker?

David Ornstein ‏@bbcsport_david 7h7 hours ago
@GeoffArsenal @AST_arsenal AFC have funds to spend huge if AW wants player & deal is possible, as he said. But outside that, this is budget

#madness still on!

Ornstein, Geoff and Dean collaborating beats the Memz, Muzzy and Jienny combo from last season I guess.

😆 He's literally just saying that we have money.

Yeah, I didn't take that tweet from Ornstein as him saying we're trying to pull off a big signing. He just says we've got room for one in the budget. If we get Perez and Mustafi our transfer business is pretty much done.

But he's not ruling anything out...

Apparently we tried to pay the Lucas deal in two instalments and Depor told us to fuckoff  😆

And people still think we have something big up our sleeve 😆
