Reports in Chile may also see Arsenal fans fret as the magazine Don Balon have claimed – according to Spanish newspaper AS – that Manchester United want to sign Sanchez.

Don Balon even go as far to suggest that Louis van Gaal has contacted representatives of Alexis Sanchez to discuss a move.

Besides United, PSG are also tracking developments regarding Sanchez. But, the Chilean star is happy in London and does not want to leave Arsenal.

Nevertheless, Don Balon claim van Gaal informed Sanchez’s representatives that he has been targeted “as the cornerstone” of his Manchester United project.

Don Balon claim the starting price to sign Sanchez would be 70 million euros. Considering Arsenal do not need to sell any players, it would likely be above 100 million.

I wouldn't be surprised if van Gaal has identified Alexis as a target. Us selling him is another story completely. I also have no idea where they get the numbers from when it comes to these rumors! 🙂

Sport Bild (Bild is basically the German version of the Sun, but its sports paper has some decent info sometimes) says we're looking at Schalke's Höwedes, Leverkusen's Bellarabi and Gladbach's Xhaka. I'd gladly take all of them, especially Xhaka would be perfect for us, he's been continuously linked with Barcelona for a while and for good reason. Forgot to mention him the other day when Claude asked for a Verratti alternative, he's the closest thing you can get.

Bit too aggressive at times although that's a problem that Verratti has as well. Also too often involved in handbags like our own Wilshere, looks like a taller version of him too.

You want that fire in an all-action midfielder though. I think every single two-way player in history who was worth a damn had a poor disciplinary record. Vieira was the same way for us. You just knew he was going to screw us over in certain games.

I think this is the main thing that is holding someone like Pogba back, by the way. He's similar to Verratti in many aspects but he's just not aggressive enough. He should dominate everyone with that frame marred with those skills, but most of the time he seems more interested in being Diaby Mk 2, and it makes him too easy to contain.

jonesy, what's the word on Rode in Germany? Is he making any noise about his current situation? He's a fucking idiot for going to Bayern in the first place, but it still feels like a shame to see a player like him waste away on the bench. We're desperately short of quality and numbers in central midfield and he's short on playing time. I'm thinking there might be a good January deal to be had here, and Wenger loves those.

The usual statements you'd expect, "there have been offers from other clubs but I want to make it at Bayern" and so on, clubs in Germany who were linked Wolfsburg, Leverkusen and Schalke. He's another player who could play with or in place of Coquelin, at Eintracht he was a purely defensive player who offered little in attack but he seems to have learned a lot in that aspect under Guardiola. I'd certainly have him at Arsenal, his all action style reminds me a bit of defensive minded Ramsey, his stamina even eclipses the Welshman's.

Is it me or Rode looks a bit out of his depth in Bayern? I mean, even Hojberg looks more impressive than him most of the time I watch him play in his limited apps last season.

Xhaka would definitely be brilliant for us. Always thought he was the better duo out of Basel compared to Shaqiri.

Jones, is Bellarabi better than Hermann and Caligiuri?

Yeah, easily. Bellarabi is good enough to play a role for us while I don't really rate Caligiuri and Herrmann, Southampton level players at best.

Not sure about Rode, I said before his move to Bayern that he's an idiot for throwing his career away like that but to be fair he got a lot more appearances than anyone would have thought last season. Höjbjerg is a talented kid but a bit of an idiot with too much attitude, Rode is on another level to him at the moment.

Like I said Rode made a big step in his development from a Gattuso destroyer type to a more well rounded midfielder. Not my first choice but I'd certainly have him here, after being run into the ground a bit at Frankfurt it might be a good thing that he didn't get as many minutes last year. I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to play for Arsenal, the vibe I get from him is he wants to stay at Bayern because the only clubs in for him are second tier garbage clubs like Leverkusen or Wolfsburg.

Surprised you're not a fan Dules, he's very similar to Sterling in his playing style. Maybe slightly less pacy but better feet and stronger physique

He's a bit awkward indeed, looks a bit clumsy and has a loose touch. Already 25 as well, and hasn't done a whole in his career so far.

Would be a decent squad player, but I'd say we have enough of those.

I hear what you're saying Jonesy, but he doesn't strike me as the smartest of players. I recon he'd blow hot and cold and frustrate us a fair bit

Costa is also 25 and hadn't done a lot in his career before his move this summer. I try to base my opinions on watching the players and not their stats.

Yeah Dules, he might blow hot and cold and he's certainly not my first choice but he'd be a lot more reliable than Chamberlain and Walcott. Both are very streaky as well and are way too injury prone, I have time for both but I really think we need to get rid of at least one of them.
