coq and arteta are two different types of players. arteta was more gilberto, relying on his positioning and reading the game. he wasn't storming around the pitch, throwing in tons of tackles, etc. coq is more physical, is more eager to put in a tackle, and more aggressive overall.
coquelin put in a bunch of MOTM performances last season. he was immense at man city. arteta has also put in some great performances for us. but his legs might be completely gone. and that is a problem, because we often isolate our "DM" and force him to cover/break up counters by himself. coquelin at least has the engine and physical capacity to do that, to recover and break up play. if someone gets by arteta, unless its john terry or robert huth, arteta isn't going to catch them. that is a problem.
at his peak for us, arteta was brilliant. no use comparing him to coquelin though. and coquelin is the better player now, simply because hes more physically up for it.
