I don't see how we could possibly add a wide player without "killing" one of Wilshere or Chamberlain, which seems distinctly unwise. I really don't get it.

I would be pleased if Wilshere ever had as good of a season as Cazorla did this last season where he was playing with pain in his ankle the entire time.

Cazorla, Walcott, Chamberlain, Wilshere, Podolski, Gnabry. Plenty of subs for two spots.

Swap out Gnabry for Alexis and that's a real list of players.

Our wide MF/FW play was garbage last year, flashes from Wilshere aside. Giroud gets a lot of blame (as he should) but we got next to nothing out wide last year. Slow, unable to beat players, no runs in behind. Easy to play against. We need a big step up if we want to win anything.

Cazorla/Wilshere/Chamberlain will have better seasons next year but we need another signing out wide to be PL contenders. Someone like Sanchez who can play as a second striker as well would be a great addition.

Because everybody was injured all the time and when everybody was injured, Wenger didn't play Gnabry enough (@WBA and @MU in particular). I guess we'll have to agree to disagree but I think that our wide players are just fine. It's also incredible how easily people forget/disregard someone who scored 21 and assisted 15 last time around.

can alexis play left wing? that's the only place i see him getting regular minutes. unless wenger is going full midget and playing him in the middle

He can come on in the middle and play off a striker in a 442, he can come on either wing as a sub, he can start either wing, he can start in the middle, he can start as an AM, he can come on as an AM, hell he'd be an option as a lone striker if we're chasing the game and need to try something different.

Walcott is never fit, Chambo is constantly getting knocks and niggles and can't last a full 90, Wilshere is hot and cold but I think he'll probably nail down a spot next season, Poldi is frustrating as fuck and shouldn't start for us, Gnabry is a kid with no experience, loan him. Ozil can't play every game for the full 90 either.

He'd get "regular minutes" because he'd merit them ahead of Rosicky, Gnabry, Sanogo, Giroud, and Podolski while competing for a starting spot with Chambo, Wilshere, Santi, and Walcott.

if one of them gets "killed", it's because we have a better player. that is actually a good thing.

well we're not playing 442, so that's out. haven't seen him play on the left regularly at any point in his career, hence my question. assuming our best players are fit, i can only see him playing on the left. as you say though, he'll get plenty of time due to our perma-crock front line, or end up crocked himself.

If you choose to completely disregard any long-term analysis along with the opportunity cost of allocating a squad position plus funds to acquire Sanchez, then yes, this is obviously correct. However, I think that 10-ish years of Chamberlain and/or Wilshere is more valuable than 5-ish years of Sanchez and acquiring Sanchez would put the 10-ish years of Chamberlain and/or Wilshere in jeopardy.

A journalist from the country Rodrigo Norambuena has been quoted by Cope in Spain as saying Alexis Sanchez fancies a move to England, rather than Italy. Cope say that several clubs from the Premier League have made offers and one of those is Arsenal.

I don't get the Gnabry obsession by certain Arsenal fans. He's a good young player but let's not get carried away. He doesn't bring our attack up a level. We won't win the PL playing a teenaged Serge Gnabry big minutes. I doubt he makes 10 PL appearances for us next season.

Theo has an ACL tear and won't be full strength until the winter. And while he's a decent player he is limited and IMO isn't good enough to start for a PL-winning side. He cannot dribble or beat his man, he offers little against packed defenses, he has no defensive work rate. He isn't quite an elite finisher for me either, too streaky. He's a weapon but ultimately a role player. The likes of Alexis and Reus combine Theo's strengths with a wide array of all-around skills.

Smart teams pressed us last year because our forwards offered zero threat in behind. Without Ramsey we require elaborate combination play to score, and that doesn't work against the big teams. Wilshere and Chamberlain will both get plenty of playing time as they develop. We need two more forwards to win the Premier League.

Barca can never fully exploit Alexis with Messi and Neymar. They just have too many stars who needs to be the STAR. I don't think its a bad decision to sell him, if they don't really need him.
