Anyone watched Arrow, based on the Green Arrow comics? Starts on TV in NZ tonight so will give it a try.

I stuck with Arrow for eight episodes or so. Really liked parts of it but the production is pretty typical CW and most of the supporting actors are horrible (and I mean horrible). I've been thinking about picking it up again. The villains were great. Deadshot (who was awesome but got disposed of way too soon), China White and Deathstroke all appeared in the episodes I watched.

Just watched the latest episode of Game of Thrones. I love the Brynden Tully character. He makes up for Jerome Flynn's downsized screentime this season. Is he in the books too or is he just an HBO construction?

Nothing of any substance happened in this episode. I wouldn't mind so much if it felt like it was building up to something, but most of this season has felt like a filler.

At the same time, it feels like they're trying to cram too much into each episode. Rob's bastard was in it for about 30 seconds, what's the point? They seem to be dedicating a couple of mins to everyone here and there and it's making it hard to find the episodes gripping.

It was the same story last season. And the one before it. There are a few major scenes with pure shock value each season and the rest of the time is spent on very, very slowly moving storylines. I don't understand the way they've chosen to adapt it either. It's not that a slow tempo equals a poor show for the record, because no one would ever have watched Mad Men in that case. It doesn't feel like they're making the most of it though.

I don't think it was as bad, at the very least you could sense it was building up to something big. I don't recall the episodes being all over the place to the same extent though I don't really remember.

But yeah, they need to structure it better. The stuff with Greyjoy for example would be more intriguing if it was crammed into an episode or two, rather than the whole season. Sort of feels a bit 'so what?' at the moment. Though this week was still kinda fun 😆

I think they had Dany running around in the desert and looking for water for three or four episodes last season, right before they arrived in Qarth. It was ridiculous. 😆 The only thing that is really indicating a passage of time at the moment is the size of the dragons.

I'd agree with that Klaus, still good stuff though, plenty of T'n A.

Watched the first episode last night and quite liked it so will stick with it for now. Pretty interesting premise. Killing all the henchmen without a thought was a bit different to the usual super heroes though (ie, Superman, Batman, Spiderman etc would never have done that). The guys walking along with the main crook were not necessarily evil guys themselves.

Thats really the bit thats annoying me at the moment. Yeah we get it he's being tortured and he doesn't know why. I don't need to see him again until you tell us what the fuck is going on. Its really annoying at this stage.

True it's a bit pointless, they should just come back to Greyjoy when there's a development on that front. A waste of good airtime.

And the books only get longer, imagine the kind of cramming there will be next season!

Really trying my patience. So amazingly bored of Greyjoy. It's clear as day who is torturing him, and they already have a motive so if there is some other reason I'm not even curious about it.

without going to specifics, isn't it universally accepted that the books get crappier as they go on? i might lower my expectations going forward.

The books definitely get worse, and there are very many plotlines that get bogged down and repetitious, or start to seem irrelevant.

He does take steps to rectify that in a few cases though, introducing different viewpoints and getting rid of some.

I've seen that said a lot, but I still enjoyed all of the books.

One particular character has a series of very boring passages in the 4th and 5th books, but other than that it's all good imo 🙂
